Despite his former reputation as a "playboy," Florida gubernatorial candidate, Tom Gallagher is rejecting a contribution from Penthouse magazine. The Republican candidate received two $500 checks from the adult entertainment company on June 30. The Sun Sentinel quotes Alberto Martinez as saying, "They were bundled in a group of checks that arrived and were noticed when we did our processing. They were refunded July 1."Why New York-based Penthouse Media Group and Penthouse Images Acquisitions Ltd., decided to support Gallagher has not been reported.Gallagher, the Florida state's chief financial officer, is making his fourth run for governor. Once a playboy, he is now married with children. He has been courting conservative voters since opening his campaign in May.Martinez says, "We have a pretty strict policy on who we take campaign contributions from." |
