Lightening struck and instantly killed a 65-year-old man named Harold Bennett outside his home of 30 years on Wednesday. He stood in the street talking with his neighbor and friend, Judy Thompson, when the incident occurred.
According to Thompson, they were just standing outside in the early evening discussing the upcoming hurricane season when she witnessed the electricity from the lightening bolt strike Bennett's head from the rear and pass through his body striking him dead. Thompson even saw yellow sparks in his mouth.
Thompson said that she was only standing about 25 feet away from Bennett when she saw the act of Mother Nature's fury that horrified her.
Florida is rated as the top state in the country for lightening strikes that result in deaths.
