A Fort Lauderdale man was arrested after shooting his car. John McGivney, 64, walked out of his apartment Friday afternoon, made his way across the parking lot and stood in front of his 1994 Chrysler LeBaron. That's when he pulled out a loaded .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol and pumped five shots into the hood of the car. When property manager George Haberkorn asked him what he was doing, the man responded, "I'm putting my car out of its misery." In time, The Broward Sheriff's office received a call of shots fired. Officers rushed to the scene and surrounded the apartment complex. McGivney came out with his hands in the air and was immediately arrested. He was charged with a firearms violation and bonded out of jail the following day.
