fter hearing screams coming from central Florida's Lake Parker, authorities arrived on the site to witness a scene straight out of a horror movie: a man caught in the jaws of an alligator.
Four Florida sheriff's deputies managed to wade through the dark, muddy water and pry 45-year-old Adrian Apgar from the alligator's grasp. The man, who was naked when police arrived on the scene, suffered a broken right arm and major injuries to his left leg, but is lucky to be alive.
Speaking to a news conference after the incident, one of the deputies, Michael Parker said, "I remember him saying: 'I'm over here, get here quick, he's still got me, he's going to kill me, my arms are broken.'"
Police said it was unclear whether Apgar had gone swimming or if the creature had snatched him from the bank, but the man did admit to taking crack cocaine.
Wildlife officials say a 12-foot alligator was later plucked from the lake, which authorities believe is the same one that attacked Apgar.
