The U. S. Postal Service has begun pilot testing the use of a three-wheeled electric vehicle in delivering mail in Key West, Florida to reduce its carbon footprint. The Key West Post Office's T3, which is similar to the two-wheeled personal transporter Segway, has two mail compartments on its sides, pulls a small trailer and is equipped with a GPS and solar-powered anti-theft alarm system. It is easy to maneuver and can fit into narrow alleyways and some sidewalks.

A federal court in Miami awarded Monday $80 million in damages to three Cuban workers of a Curacao shipyard firm that forced them to work 16 hours a day without pay. Fernando Alonso Hernández won $30 million in damages from the Curacao Drydock Co. while compatriots Alberto Justo RodrÃguez and Luis Alberto Casanova Toledo received $25 million each. The three filed the lawsuit in 2006 after escaping from the shipyard in the Curacao capital of Willemstad.

The Eustis Police Department has fired one of its officers who tasered a teenager for fun during a birthday party he hosted last month. Dan Nesmith, 22, lost his job after a video of him demonstrating his taser on the back of 15-year-old Taylor Davis surfaced and a subsequent check of the officer's taser gun showed it was fired on the day of the party. The taser gun is equipped with memory that indicates the date when it was fired.

Hundreds of Chinese laborers are holding 12 Israeli staff members hostage on a resort construction site in Turks and Caicos. The workers refuse to let the Israelis, from the Ashtroom real estate company, leave the project site in West Caicos until the Chinese manpower agency that hired them pays their back wages and returns the $15,000 each person invested to be able to work on the island.

With the worsening economy everything is for sale on Craigslist, including one kidney from someone self-described as a healthy, healthy, broke and about to be homeless 35-year-old. Selling a kidney is unquestionably illegal but its hard to tell if the ad is serious or a prank.
