Police found more than 200 marijuana plants growing in a south Florida mall. Investigators are still looking for the growers of the plants at the Mall of the Americas in West Miami-Dade County, who they say had a sophisticated operation.

Bloodsucking bedbugs have returned with a vengeance in many college dorms. Dan Mizer, associate director of residence life at Texas A&M University, which has dealt with bedbugs in the past, explained the bedbug campus invasion to more foreign travel by students, a larger bedbug population, new rules that discourage widespread fumigation and maybe tougher bugs more resistant to pesticides.

A teacher and a teenager are both dead after a shoot-out in which the two exchanged gun fire. According to reports, Titus Hill, 19, and an accomplice attempted to rob Sean Ellenberger, 39, outside of his friend's home where he and the friend had just installed a new stereo system in Ellenberger's jeep Cherokee around midnight Saturday.

A Daytona Beach, Fla. , police officer was fired for demanding free coffee from a Starbucks and threatening to respond slowly if employees didn't give him a free latte. Although Starbucks has a policy of giving police officers free regular coffee, it doesn't hand out specialty coffees without charge.

A 4-year-old boy died Saturday after being left in a vehicle for nearly three hours while his mother was getting her nails done for her wedding later that day. Reports say that the mother, Mirlande Jean-Baptiste's, 29, likely did not know the child was in her Ford Explorer, as she and her sister dropped off some children with relatives before going to their 9 a. m. appointments.
