A Cornell University horticulturist research says that giving some plants diluted alcohol stunts the growth of a plant's leaves and stems but doesn't affect the blossoms. William Miller, director of Cornell's Flower Bulb Research Program, reported his findings in the April issue of HortTechnology, a peer-reviewed journal of horticulture.

A German woman is threatening her family members with legal action after her aunt-in-law "stole her grave" and had herself buried in it instead. Christa Jahn, 73, from Frankfurt, bought her final resting place right next to her husband Hans' and thought she would be able to spend her ever after next to her beloved.

Sending flowers in time for Valentine's Day may be a little harder this year. The building housing the nation's largest flower shipping business burst into flames in southern Florida -- a week before Valentine's Day. The owner of Armellini Industries in Palm City said that 53 trucks transporting Valentine's Day flowers already were on the road when the building caught fire. The owner says the fire could not have come at a worse time.

True believers are flocking to the Vietnamese Catholic Martyrs Church in Sacramento, where red liquid is apparently dripping from the left eye of a statue of the Virgin Mary. Crowds of pilgrims are filing in by the hundreds, carrying cameras, flowers and candles. Many pray for blessings, like Bao and Amber Tran, who brought their newborn son.

Christina Aguilera has reportedly gone from pop princess to bride. The 24-year-old singer and her longtime boyfriend, music mogul Jordan Bratman exchanged vows Saturday in a lavish ceremony at Napa Valley's Auberge Du Soleil resort. Us Weekly reports on its Web site that Aguilera walked down the aisle in a Christian Lacroix gown, her hair decorated in jewels and pulled back with white flowers. The bridesmaids wore dresses designed by Kai Milla, Stevie Wonder's wife. The couple exchanged rings in front of about 130 guests.
