Policemen in England have cautioned patriotic motorists who attach fluttering English flags on their cars, saying they frighten horses in Hampshire, a rural area in the country.
With barely a week ahead of next month's World Cup kick off; football crazy fans in England can't wait to see the tournament begin. Patriotic supporters attach their national flag to their cars as they drive around the country.
A police officer told Reuters on Wednesday, "It is commendable that the nation is getting behind their football team, but I do have concerns that motorists may cause an animal to bolt and possibly cause injury to itself, its rider or innocent passers-by."
According to the police statement, the flags could detach, flying off to hit a pedestrian or cyclist. If it happens, the motorist could be charged with assault. He admitted patriotism for the national side was good, but maintained there was need to consider the animals.
