Two Airlines Refuse To Fly Sick Child To Treatment

A 5-year-old Kentucky girl with a rare disease was refused by two airlines to board a plane from Canada to China for her treatment, saying she was too sick to fly. The girl was to receive stem cell treatments for a rare fatal disease at a Beijing hospital. After being treated at a Vancouver hospital for seizures, Miranda Goranflo and her daughter Hailey were forced to fly home to Shepherdsville, KY, when the airlines, Air China and Air Canada, decided during a layover in Vancouver, British Columbia, that she was not fit to fly for 11-hour trip.

British Wildlife Guide Teaches Heron To Fly

A local wildlife guide has taught an orphaned heron how to fly by flapping his arms and squawking. Gary Zammit, a 42-year old wildlife expert at the Gwel an Mor complex in Portreath, Cornwall, said that he managed to teach Dude, a heron he raised from a chick to an adult, how to take to the skies by first running across the field with food in his pockets. The food led the bird to follow Zammit, who then spread his arms and flapped them.

Frontier Airlines Ups Carry-On Fee For Antlers

Well, it was fun while it lasted for ambitious hunters hoping to fly to an exotic location, nab that monster buck, and fly back home with their trophy antlers. One might think the cost would be only the price of the ticket, as well as the need to tell your hunting story to a few curious onlookers. The truth is, the antlers need a ticket almost as pricy as the riders themselves - $75 dollar per ride - and once June 10th rolls around, that price is going up to $100 on Frontier Airlines. This is a special rule, applicable only to antlers. . . because, let's face it, everyone was tired of antlers riding for free.

Inventor Of LSD Dies

Albert Hofmann, the inventor of the mind-altering drug LSD, died Tuesday at the age of 102. Hofmann was a Swiss chemist who discovered lysergic acid diethylamide-25 by accident in 1938 while studying the medicinal ingredients in plants. One April day in 1938 a bit of LSD seeped onto his finger. That's when he discovered the psychedelic effects of the drug.

Prince William In Trouble After Landing Chinook In Girlfriend's Yard

Heir to the British throne Prince William is once again in hot water for allegedly landing a $20-million military helicopter at a garden in Bucklebury, Berkshire -- the family estate of his girlfriend Kate Middleton, British press reported Monday. The Daily Mail reported that Royal Air Force Chief Marshal Glenn Torpy "erupted with rage" after finding out that Prince William landed the Chinook helicopter assigned to him during a training flight on his girlfriend's yard.
