Although it couldn't fly, people can still admire a London man's handiwork on a life-sized wooden replica of a toy plane. Mark Clews, 24, spent six months building his rendition of the balsa wood planes he threw around as a kid. He expected his plane to be able to take off but even after that failed the plane will still end up in the Learn To Fly expo next month in London.

A British businessman is using his frequent flyer miles from Virgin Atlantic to fly on the company's newest venture, Virgin Galactic. Alan Watts, will trade his 2 million miles to travel 75 miles; but this time he's going straight up!

An enraged Italian musician almost bit off the ear of an airport worker on Monday when he found that he could not board a flight due to overbooking. The 41-year-old musician, Raffaele Artesi, was supposed to fly to Naples accompanied by his band to attend a news conference where he was due to present a new tour.

A German outsize shoemaker plans to fly to China next week to give three pairs of size 57 women's shoes to Yao Defen, who is thought to be the tallest woman in the world. Yao's 7. 74-ft. height is largely due to a brain tumor that stimulates her body to release an excess of growth hormone. She began treatment for the tumor in June.

A 28-year-old environmentalist from Machynllet, Powys in England, is planning on traveling some 9,770 miles by land to be a bridesmaid at a wedding in Australia because she does not want to contribute to air pollution by flying. Barbara Haddrill said the trip would take her six weeks to accomplish at a cost of $3,800.
