A Sri Lanka stewardess really wanted the day off on Friday so she decided to phone in a bomb threat from her boyfriend's cell phone to the airlines for which she "was" employed. "The inquiry reveals that the stewardess had given the false alarm because she did not want to fly that day," says Colombo's Sunday Times weekly.

Steve Fossett will partner with Sir Richard Branson in another flight around the world - in an attempt to break an existing record. The two aviation adventurers will use Fossett's Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer in an attempt to break the record for longest flight - currently held at 25,000 miles.

A recent ruling by several California grand juries has indicted 40 pilots for fraud. Federal officials reveal the pilots falsified reports that would have disclosed they were collecting disability payments for medical and psychological conditions - disqualifying them from operating an aircraft. Other pilots failed to report prior criminal convictions.
