he riches of Britain's 1,000 richest people grew even more by almost 15 percent last year to reach US$819 billion, according to The Sunday Times Rich List. Indian-born steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal was ranked Britain's wealthiest man for the fourth consecutive year, with a fortune worth Ł27. 7 billion (US$55 billion), from Ł19. 25 billion last year. He is now the sixth richest person in the world.

Florida football coach Urban Meyer went out searching for the fastest student on campus and if one of those finalists can beat one of his Gators in the 40-yard dash on Saturday then a full scholarship is waiting. Approximately 225 students took Meyer up on the offer. The numbers have been whittled down to the fastest 15 finalists.

A soccer game was punctuated when an irate priest hurled his shirt at the game referee, resulting in the priest's ejection from the field. The surprising show of anger from the holy man occurred at the Vatican City, during a Clericus Cup, an international football tournament participated in by priests and seminarians.

An intoxicated man called the police and asked them to arrest him for breaking into a football clubhouse and stealing some alcohol. After trespassing into the Rossendale United FC Clubhouse, 21-year Old Liam Tomlinson apparently urged police to bring him in, only to be told that there were no available police cars to bring him in with.

A local reverend's ticket to the upcoming National Football Conference was mistakenly shredded after asking his assistant to get rid of a stack of papers on his desk. The tickets for the Sunday game at the Lambau Field with the Green Bay Packers were placed on the desk of wheelchair-bound Rev. Walter Hermanns, who had multiple sclerosis. Rev. Hermanns was getting some assistance from friend Andrew Duncan with tasks such as straightening out his home, as was the case Friday night.
