A foreman at Brendle Farms has discovered a 4-legged chicken among the 36,000 birds raised in the Pennsylvania farm. The strange chicken is reportedly healthy despite its nature.
The 13-year-old daughter of Mark Brendle, the owner of the farm, has named the chicken Henrietta. The bird has two normal front legs. But in addition to those, it has an extra pair of legs behind them. The extra legs do not function, so the bird drags them behind as it moves ahead.
Cliff Thompson, a retired professor of genetics at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown says there no clear reason to explain the deformity. However, he said it could just simply be an accident during the chicken's development.
