Explosive Stolen From Washington State Port, Feds Investigating

Enough explosives were stolen from the Port of Walla Walla in Washington to do serious damage, according to federal officials who are investigating the theft.

Thieves made off with various items including 96 one-pound blocks of TNT, 17 sticks of dynamite, 180 pounds of black powder, 200 pounds of AMEX/ANFO (a booster sensitive blasting agent), 14 bags of rocket black powder, detonation cord, blasting caps and more.

Scientists have discovered a new subspecies of primate with a distinctively long tail deep in the Amazon forest of Brazil.

The monkey was named Mura's saddleback tamarin (saguinus fuscicollis mura) after a native tribe that inhabits the place where the animal was found during an expedition into the Amazonas state in northwestern Brazil in 2007, the scientists said Tuesday. The Mura Indians live in the Purus and Madeira river basins

Relocated Black Bear Returns To Florida Origin

A black bear relocated to a southern Florida forest last month has returned 150 miles east to Palm Beach County and was captured by animal authorities for the second time Wednesday.

A wildlife official fired two tranquilizer darts to the bear while it was eating berries from trees at the Palms West Hospital in Wellington. Half a dozen wildlife officials then placed the half-asleep animal into a cage and was identified through an ear tag as the same bear captured in a Weston neighborhood and taken to the Picayune Strand State Forest in Collier County in May.
