Infamous exotic dancer Candy Barr died of pneumonia Friday. She was 70.

Born Juanita Dale Slusher on July 6, 1935, she starred in the 1951 erotic film Smart AlecDallasNews.com.

She entertained patrons as a burlesque dancer at the Colony Club in Dallas. It was located two doors from Carousel nightclub, which was owned by Jack Ruby.

Barr was acquainted with Ruby who even gave her a dachshund born from his own dogs.

Barr eventually ran into legal troubles of her own. In 1956, she was charged with assault to murder in the shooting of her second husband, from whom she was separated. He was not seriously injured and the charges were eventually dropped.

However, later that year, Barr was arrested for possession of marijuana and was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
