A former Winter Olympian won first place at the seventh annual North American Wife Carrying Championship.
John Farra, who carried his 110-pound wife Tess won her weight in beer and five times her weight in cash, or $550 reports the AP.
They are qualified for a trip to the world championships in Finland next July.
The Farras bested 27 couples as they did the 278-yard course that included a water trough and log hurdles in the fastest time.
Clocking in at second place is Daniel Brown and Janel Worcester of Brewer.
Farra had competed in cross-country ski races in the 1992 Games in Albertville, France.
He prepared for the wife carry competition by climbing up a slope near his house every morning with 80 pounds of mortar mix in a backpack.
