The son of Annette and Jeff Carter, former President Jimmy Carter's youngest son, has been placed under house arrest after a plea agreement reached Friday in Fayette County Superior Court.

Jeremy Carter, 18, of Peachtree City was arrested in December of 2004 after being discovered in the home of a former friend with marijuana and alcohol.

Carter pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of alcohol by a minor. The teen was also charged with burglary, but the charge was reduced Friday. Jeremy pleaded guilty to theft by taking, a misdemeanor.

The teen will remain under house arrest for 30 days and serve 36 months on probation.
