Hasim Townsend, 4, survived an 11-storey fall from an apartment window at the Lincoln Square Apartments complex on Morton Avenue, Times Union reported on Saturday.
The child suffered a fractured skull, a broken leg and other injuries and was in serious but stable condition in the pediatric intensive care unit of Albany Medical Center Hospital.
A police official said the boy survived after first hitting a metal roof over an entryway about 100 feet below the window.
A physician, who is treating the boy told reporters that the child likely has serious internal injuries and could have brain damage but, "It's an incredibly good sign that he was talking and I can't attribute it to anything other than good luck."
