A television reporter in California is attacked while trying to interview a couple suspected of perpetrating a real estate scam. The couple bit and hit John Mattes of Fox 6 News, leaving him with cracked ribs and cuts on his face. Authorities identified the assailants as Assad "Sam" Suleiman, 36, and his wife, Rosa Amelia Barraza, 33.

Some Brewer's blackbirds at the California town of San Luis Obispo are pecking the heads of residents crossing their habitats. The birds, apparently protecting their young during nesting season, are swooping down and attacking the heads of patrons making their way to a shopping center café.

A British man has been reunited with his brother after spending 82 years apart. Fred Fox at the age of five was told that his younger brother Norman, 18-months at the time, had died with a skull fracture, but was actually sent into care instead. It wasn't until Fox's daughter Helen decided to research the family tree on the Internet only to find out that the younger Norman was searching for his brother all these years too.

According to a Global Sex Survey, comedian Gilbert Gottfried, the voice of the Aflac Inc. duck, was crowned "unsexiest man in the world. " The Boston Phoenix reports that next to Gottfried, was New York Yankees' pitcher Randy Johnson who came in second place, followed by film critic Roger Ebert, television psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw and Fox television co-host Alan Colmes. Even actor Brad Pitt made the list, as the newspaper's 100th-least sexy man.

Fox has dashed Terrell and Derrell Brittenum's dreams of becoming the next American Idols. The 28-year-old identical twin brothers were "uninvited" from the competition after their criminal records became public, their lawyer said. The Brittenums made their mark on American Idol during the first episode of the fifth season, when they wowed the judges at the Chicago auditions and earned passes to Hollywood. But the Tennessee natives' brush with glory turned out to be short-lived, as the brothers soon landed behind bars on charges that they used another man's identity and financial information last June to purchase a 2005 Dodge Magnum in Atlanta. Both Brittenums refused extradition to Georgia, which led to additional charges against them.
