A 20-year old University of Minnesota student was killed Saturday in a post-game celebration after the field goal post was torn down and struck the student in the head. Richard Thomas Rose, of Benton City, Wash. , was pronounced dead at a hospital after attempts to revive him on the field failed. No one else was reported hurt in the freak accident.

An investigation is being conducted into how a helicopter accidentally dropped a concrete block onto a cable car, killing nine German tourists. Answers are being sought into whether a technical fault or human error was the cause. Six children were among the nine German skiers killed in Monday's accident in Soelden, a ski resort in the Tirol.

Four Boy Scout leaders were killed in a freak electrocution accident, late Monday afternoon, during the opening ceremony of the Boy Scouts of America's annual Jamboree. One other leader and a contract worker were injured and are listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
