According to the White House the President says, "we celebrate the Hungarians who defied an empire to demand their liberty; we recognize the friendship between the United States and Hungary; and we reaffirm our shared desire to spread freedom to people around the world. A county administrator received a letter Friday from the Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services telling him he must change the vanity plates on his car. The state had asked the man to explain the acronym on his plates in September, which reads FOAD1. Among some members of military and computer users, FOAD stands for "(expletive removed) off and die. " Freeborn County Administrator Ron Gabrielson said the acronym on his plates stands for "freedom offers America democracy. "

A political party formed by Dutch pedophiles in May wants to run in the national elections next month, but the party's secretary, Norbert de Jonge, says he doubts the Brotherly Love, Freedom and Diversity party (PNVD) will be able to get enough support. The PNVD says it wants to lift the taboo on pedophilia, and says it is in favor of lowering the age of consent from 16 to 12 and legalizing child pornography and bestiality.

Two confessed killers are on the loose in Brazil so they can have the freedom to vote in a recent election. A man who confessed to raping and stoning to death five women as well as a man who confessed to hiring the hit man who killed his mother were released five days before the country's elections. Police have begun hunting them down but had to wait 48 hours after the polls closed as Brazilian law states.

Thailand's new military government is using a former beauty queen to help soften its image with the people. The junta has cracked down on political freedom, including free speech, and hope Thawinan Khongkran, 1987's Miss Asia, can help restore public opinion in the armed forces.
