Fried Coke treats are becoming the latest new hit for state fairs around the country. The artery-clogging dessert seems to be gaining rapid popularity.
According to the AFP, the deep-fried dough is soaked in the Coke syrup, resulting in "gooey Coke-battered nuggets topped with cola syrup."
The treats won the "most creative" title at the Dallas, TX state fair in September.
The inventor of the Fried Coke treats, fair concessionaire, Abel Gonzales, Jr., claims he's already sold 16,000 cups of the sticky balls in just the first two weeks at the latest fair.
These types of desserts are commonly sold at state fairs everywhere.
Most fairs have been offering similar treats for years, such as Twinkies and cookies, dipped in batter and deep fried on a stick. The new Fried Coke treats seem to be the biggest winner so far.
