Experts in Hawaii are beginning work to identify the remains of a World War II airman found frozen atop a California mountain last week.

The airman's remains are being investigated at a laboratory that serves as part of the military's Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command in Hawaii. The lab identifies the remains of lost soldiers.

Last week, climbers found the frozen airman's body intact and still wearing his parachute. The discovery may help solve a decades-old mystery. Experts think he may have been on a military plane that disappeared in 1942.

Officials have narrowed the list of possible missing servicemen to fewer than ten individuals.
