Adventurer Steve Fossett will have to wait to break the world record for the longest flight. A fuel leak forced his crew to scrub today's takeoff from Florida.

Fossett hopes to fly more than 27-thousand miles in 80 hours. After wind concerns at Kennedy Space Center returned to optimal levels, mechanical problems forced the delay of Steve Fossett's flight.

The 61 year old is attempting to make the longest non-stop flight in history.

Fossett plans to eventually barrel down the three-mile runway in a spindly experimental airplane on a venture filled with perils; including the combustible danger of taking off with 18,000 gallons of fuel in a light-weight experimental plane, as well as sleep deprivation and the unpredictability of the weather.

His journey will take him around the world once and across the Atlantic twice, landing in the United Kingdom. If he makes it, he will eclipse a record set by Dick Rutan and Jeanne Yeager in 1986.

Fossett is expected to have another go at launching the 'GlobalFlyer' from the Kennedy Space Center, on Wednesday.
