After 18 years of living as a fugitive, an escaped inmate turns himself in.

Hernando Hennessy-Rossi was 39 when he escaped from a federal minimum security prison camp at Eglin Air Force Base near Pensacola, Florida.

After learning he was being tracked by authorities, he surrendered Wednesday in Houston.

He had only served about four months of a five-year sentence when he disappeared.

Hennessy-Rossi was arrested in 1987 after customs inspectors at Miami International Airport caught him trying to smuggle 1.9 kilograms of cocaine.
