A Kenyan man killed a lion with his bare hands in Samburu, about 260 kilometers northeast of the capital Nairobi, only to be attacked by a pack of hyenas a few moments later, the country's media reported Tuesday. He succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital Monday.

Six cheerleaders of a college football team have been suspended from school after expressing their message to fans by exposing their panties during a game. The school's vice Principal Ken Goeken personally issued the order suspending the girls for two days for deliberately disobeying their coach and going ahead with their 'special number especially designed for the last day of the football season.

A German policeman has emerged as the new world champion of the hybrid sport of chessboxing by stopping his opponent in seven rounds of alternating rounds of chess and boxing. Effectively warding off American David 'Double D' Depto's punches, Frank Stoldt abbreviated the light-heavyweight fight with a checkmate in the seventh round, much to the delight of the 1,200 cheering fans in Berlin.

A couple from Hell won $115,001 in lottery in the Fantasy 5 drawing held Wednesday, which is Halloween. John and Sue Wilson, who live in the unincorporated town 45 miles west of Detroit, received the windfall from the Michigan Lottery.

A 56-year-old single mom from Long Island hit the jackpot at a time when she was about to lose her home, New York lottery officials said Friday. Rosa Torres, a cashier who juggles two jobs, won $2,000 weekly for life after buying four lottery tickets with the $20 she luckily picked from the ground on the way to a 7-Eleven convenience store in New Hyde Park.
