With only a few days left to go, heavily pregnant women in Germany are going to extreme measures to prevent giving birth before New Year's Day. If the women can postpone delivering the baby until 2007, they will qualify for a new government aid program which would give almost $2,500 a month in handouts.

Many pregnant women are going as far as standing on their heads to delay the births. Reports say the future parents are swapping odd tips on how to postpone their labor in both parenting classes and online chat rooms.

Germany's government began their baby financial incentive due to the shrinking population and overall low birth rate and to encourage young, working class couples to have children.

According to Ananaova, expectant mother Antje Grimm says: "From Christmas I have been standing on my head."
