What Halloween pranksters probably don't know is that throwing raw eggs at someone could potentially cause permanent eye damage.

According to a recent study published in the British "Emergency Medicine Journal," the raw egg toss that accidentally hits a human eye can be serious enough to lead to blindness.

Doctor Jon Durian, author and lead researcher from the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, jokingly said it would probably be safer to throw scrambled eggs.

Spokesman for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Richard Bensinger said, "This would be humorous were it not potentially tragic."

Although these types of incidences are limited and rare, they are still very harmful when they happen.
