Employees at a Mexico hospital are gleaming in excitement over a recent birth. The reason of their excitement is the enormous size of the baby. Antonio Vasconcelos, who has been nicknamed "Super Tonio" by visitors weighed 14.5 pounds at birth, well above the normal weight for a newborn.
According to hospital authorities, the baby is perfectly fine and drinks 5 ounces of milk every three hours.
"We haven't found any abnormality in the child, there are some signs of high blood sugar, and a slight blood infection, but that is being controlled so that the child can get on with his normal life in a few more days," Narciso Perez Bravo, the hospital's director told the AP.
However, the young Mexican is not the biggest baby born lately. In January 2005, a Brazilian baby was weighed 16 pounds, 11 ounces at birth.
According to the Guinness World Records, the heaviest baby was a boy born to a healthy mother in Italy in September 1955 weighing at a whopping 22 pounds, 8 ounces.
