A 12-year-old girl collapses at a Disney World water park Thursday and later dies.

Authorities at the Orange County Sheriff's Office report the girl was in the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon when lifeguards noticed her lying on a ledge, out of the water.

The girl passed out after lifeguards asked if she was OK - CPR was performed until paramedics arrived. She was pronounced dead at an area hospital shortly after.Disney spokesman Bill Warren says, "This is someone we approached and talked to, and after we engaged in conversation with her, she became ill."The girl was with relatives from Newport News, Virginia who claim she had no known medical problems. Her name was being withheld until her parents in Virginia were notified.

An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.
