An allegedly deranged man was arrested by authorities after he removed the eye of a three-year-old girl he reportedly mistook for a frog in Taguig, near the Philippine capital of Manila. Police said the suspect, Rolly Semira, suddenly grabbed the victim who was buying some refreshments from a store and gouged her left eye.

An eight-year-old girl from Indiana has survived surgery to seal off internal ruptures caused by 30 magnets and steel balls from a toy she had eaten. Haley Lents was interviewed on the Early Show on Monday and told the TV show's co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez that she ate the magnets and steel balls because they looked like candies, according to CBS News.

An Indonesian writer threw $10,700 in cash from an airplane on Sunday to promote a book he wrote. Tung Desem Waringin was promoting the second business book he has authored by flying four times over a stadium in Serang city and throwing money out into the air.

A 12-year-old girl was stung by a scorpion at a Wal-Mart store on Sunday while trying to pick out a watermelon from a bin. The scorpion was around an inch long and must have got caught in the shipment from Mexico. The girl, Megan Templeton, was taken to the hospital immediately and made a full recovery.

British girls between the ages 10 to 17 have increased their share of criminal acts with 59,236 incidents reported in 2006-07. The figure represents a 25 percent jump from 47,358 young girl crimes in 2003-04. In contrast, British boys even registered a 2 percent decline in crime rates for the same period. However, despite the emerging trends, the bulk of offenders were still young men.
