An Austin man who admitted that he stole a statue of the Virgin Mary and painted it to look like a clown is now expected to receive a suspended jail sentence and be ordered to perform community service. Briceson Bryan pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor theft on Friday in Mower County District Court after admitting that he stole the statue from Calvary Cemetery on July 29.

A British couple is embarking upon a year-long planned journey around the world Monday without traveling by any planes and would stick only to the ground journey. According to the Daily Mail, Ed Gillespie, 34, and girlfriend Fiona King, 28, plan to travel 40,000 miles in their journey across 20 countries without boarding a single plane.

Jilted by his girlfriend, a former New York corrections officer started stealing expensive cars like Mercedes Benz and BMW. However, a judge took pity on Charles James Jr. and imposed only a six-month stretch in jail. James, who lives in the New Brighton neighborhood on Staten Island, was first charged with stealing a Mercedes-Benz in Manhattan. He also stole a BMW after he was free after bailing out of jail. The Staten Island Advance reported that the BMW was being used for test drives at a charity event on Long Island.

It took 90 years for a postcard from a British soldier to his girlfriend to arrive at the Chippenham, England home of the deceased couple's 86-year-old daughter. Mailed by Pvt. Walter Butler from his post during World War I, the postcard mysteriously appeared in the delivery sack of mail carrier Martin Kay. Kay did some research and discovered that Butler and his girlfriend Amy Hicks had married. Then Kay tracked down their living descendant and was able to deliver the postcard.
