They may be less at pocket, but U. S. cabbies are no less when it comes to honesty. A Washington taxi driver returned a lost wallet, stuffed with nearly $6,000, to its owner after it presumably slipped from his hand while rushing to the airport. The incident comes just two days after a New York City taxi driver returned a bag carrying 31 diamond rings to the passenger who had mistakenly forgot it in his cab. Vinod Mago, 55, told the AP that he never even thought of keeping the money. He said, "If you're an honest person, you will always have money in your pocket. "

"One can't go against the word of God" - the idiom has held its good for a duck named Perky. After enduring being shot and then having her presumed dead body thrown in a kitchen fridge, the ring-necked bird has once again shown her lust for life on the operation table. The one-pound female duck had stopped breathing Saturday while the vets were performing a surgery on her to repair gunshot damage to one wing. But the fowl suddenly came back when veterinarian David Hale of the Cross Creek Animal Hospital performed a CPR on the duck, Noni Beck of the Goose Creek Wildlife Sanctuary told the AP.

Organizers of the 12 Association of Southeast Asian Nations an East Asian Summits are lavishing nuns in Cebu City, Philippines with eggs and other goodies to ask them to pray to heaven for good weather this week. The Philippines abruptly canceled the twin summits last month and blamed the approaching typhoon, which eventually missed the venue, for the postponement. Now local officials do not want a repeat of the cancellation and are asking nuns to pray for divine intervention for a good weather.

A group of workers at Turkish Airlines were so happy to be rid of the last of a batch of troublesome planes that they sacrificed a camel at Istanbul airport. The national flag-carrier admitted on Wednesday that the staff had slaughtered the dromedary and that chief of the sacrifice-organizing group had been suspended pending an investigation. The incident drew worldwide attention after Turkish newspapers carried pictures of the festooned camel before sacrifices and then the beast chopped up into meat chunks.
