The spirit of Christmas did not deter a thief from taking about $8,000 and checks from a New Jersey church. Police and church officials say a collection basket was placed at the altar of the Church of the Guardian Angels while Monsignor James Moran went to the front door to chat with parishioners.

A 1-month-old baby was thrown from the window of a burning third-floor apartment and safety caught by a man who plays catcher for his company's baseball team. Mother Tracinda Foxe, 30, was trapped by smoke and flames in the Bronx apartment on Wednesday. She prayed before dropping her son Eric Guzman, reports The Associated Press.

Some people write to Santa, others earmark their postage for God. Postal workers in Jerusalem dropped off hundreds of letters addressed to God at the Western Wall in Jerusalem on Wednesday. Shmuel Rabinovitch, chief rabbi at the site says, "This place is the holiest place for the Jews, and it is the first gate for prayers. That's why a prayer in this place is important and these notes are important. "
