A goldfish at the Royal Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh has undergone cosmetic surgery after visitors complained of its ugliness. The fish had an "unsightly" growth on its face and visitors of the museum regularly complained that it looks ugly.
According to the Scotsman, the gold fish has undergone the cosmetic surgery to remove a growth from its eye.
Scientists say the growth seems not to affect the fish but decided to remove the lump to satisfy the museum's visitors.
A spokeswoman for the museum said the fish's eye had to be removed along with the lump.
She said the coins thrown by people into the pond where the fish stays, were used to fund the operation.
The paper quotes a museum official as saying, "People were saying: 'One of your fish has an unsightly growth coming out from its head.' They went to the reception desk saying: 'You've got an ill fish there.'"
