Philippine Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago apologized on Wednesday to Chinese-Filipinos who were offended by s remark uttered during a Senate investigation into a national broadband deal. She will also send a letter to the Chinese embassy to offer another request for forgiveness for her utterance that "China invented corruption. " Santiago is member of a Senate committee hearing the controversial $329 million broadband deal the Philippine government signed with Chinese firm Zhong Xing Telecommunication Equipment Corp. "China invented civilization in the East, but as well it invented corruption for all of human civilization. . . That's why these Chinese love to invite people to play golf, have dinner and give free ticket to China," Santiago said.

A pilot with single-engine plane landed on a golf course and walked away from the mishap according to Douglas County sheriff's officials said. The pilot however was transported to a nearby hospital to undergo medical treatment.

Halifax police have charged at least one person after a kitten was beaten to death with a golf club on Sunday. Several people, including the cat's 11-year-old owner witnessed the attack. Few details have been released but investigators say the charge is not directly related to the death of the cat. Three other suspects are still being questioned in the case and could be charged with injuring or endangering animals, or causing unnecessary suffering.

Professional golfer Jeff Johnson is confused over the robbery of nearly 4,800 fluorescent yellow golf balls from a suburban Kansas City golf course on Monday. Johnson, who heads the Sunflower Hills Golf Course, said it would have taken someone hours Sunday night to pick the balls up from the range. The balls were lying there scattered after being hit earlier in the night.
