The 2006 update of the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary adds mouse potatoes, googling and himbo, among 100 new words.

The mouse potato is defined as someone who spends as much time on the computer as a coach potato does on the sofa.

The himbo means an attractive and unintelligent man, while googling is a verb than means finding information quickly on the Web.

America's best-selling dictionary had a team of editors examine books, magazines and food labels to determine which new words and phrases would be added in the fields of science, technology and pop culture.

Arthur Bicknell, senior publicist with Merriam-Webster, tells The Associated Press, "The are not tracking verbal language. They are looking for evidence that words have become assimilated into the written English language."

He adds, "Unfortunately with slang words by the time it has become assimilated it probably isn't cool anymore. If the grown-ups are using it, forget it!"

Merriam-Webster also added soul patch: a small beard under a man's lower lip; unibrow: two eyebrows that join together to form one, and supersize: extra large meals at fast food restaurants.
