In a bizarre incident a woman mistakenly put her one-month-old grand son into a plastic bin to be scanned along with her baggage at Los Angeles International airport.

The baby was noticed by an airport worker who immediately pulled the bin back from the conveyor belt.

The incident happened Saturday, after the woman, whom the airport officials described as an inexperienced traveler, accidentally put the baby in a bin along with her carry-on items to be scanned under the X-ray machine.

A screener spotted the image of the infant on his X-ray monitor and reached in to pull the child back out before he traveled all the way through the machine.

The baby was taken to hospital to check if it has received any dangerous dose of the radiation.

Airport officials described the 56-year-old woman as an inexperienced traveler and the incident as an "innocent mistake."
