Parents watching a schoolboy rugby match Sunday were angry and appalled after hardcore pornography interrupted the scheduled programming.

The Prime Channel, a free broadcast station, was showing a Grass Roots Rugby show when they claim a distribution fault caused the "inappropriate material," from a pay-per-view channel to be aired on the wrong station.

According to reports, for nearly four minutes, hardcore pornography, from the film Desperate Black Wives 2, was shown on televisions across the island nation.

In a report by New Zealand's channel 3, parents said their children had seen the sex on screen, and one 12-year-old girl covered her eyes and ran out of the room saying "eww," and "gross." Another parent told reporters his 8-year-old son's innocence was lost.

Shocked and outraged parents reportedly flooded the TV station with phone calls.

The Prime Channel has issued an apology to the public.
