Snow breaks mans fall and allows for a happy ending to what had the potential to be a deadly accident. A man plummets 130 feet from a helicopter but escapes injury because deep snow cushioned his fall.

The British Royal Air Force says a bad digital television receiver set off a helicopter rescue mission after sending out a rogue distress signal. The "freeview" box, which normally gives viewers access to dozens of digital TV and radio channels through a standard, rooftop signal, sent out signal identical to that of an emergency beacon out at sea.

On their way back from Camp David, President George W. Bush's motorcade has been in a minor accident a couple of blocks from the White House. An ambulance traveling with the motorcade in case of emergency couldn't stop in time when the lead vehicles slowed down, crashing into a Chevy Suburban. The Suburban then hit a support van in front of it.

Now man's best friend can take a bullet in the chest and live to bark about it too, thanks to a new bullet-proof vest for dogs. Manufactured by the German firm Mehler, the three-kilo protective garment is on display this week at a high tech security trade show outside Paris.

An investigation is being conducted into how a helicopter accidentally dropped a concrete block onto a cable car, killing nine German tourists. Answers are being sought into whether a technical fault or human error was the cause. Six children were among the nine German skiers killed in Monday's accident in Soelden, a ski resort in the Tirol.
