Washington Police Discover Marijuana Plants In Park With The Help Of A Wired Turtle

A female Eastern box turtle called Turtle No. 72 has led Washington police to a well-tended marijuana garden in Rock Creek Park. The turtle is one of 135 wired animals with a small radio transmitter on its shell to provide scientists data on turtle movements. The six-inch turtle wanders through 50 acres near the District-Maryland boundary.

Scientists Test New Pill That Can Make Couch Potatoes Fit Without Leaving The Living Room

It's good news for all couch potatoes, who could soon be able to use an exercise pill to keep the body trim and fit without having to move from the sofa. Scientists have successfully tested a drug on mice that could deliver some of the benefits of exercise, even to sedentary people. In tests, mice were able to run 44 percent farther, suggesting humans may be able to do the same without prior training, researchers reported in the journal Cell.

Arm Bitten Off By Alligator From Boy Recovered But Doctors Fail To Reattach It

An 11-year-old boy survived after an alligator bit off his left arm while swimming in a pond here Wednesday, but doctors failed to re-attach the severed arm recovered later from the reptile. Devin Funck is in stable condition, Amiee Goforth, spokesman of Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, told Fox News Thursday.

Indian Man Survives Being Impaled By 5-Foot Iron Rod

A 23-year-old man from New Delhi who was admitted to an Indian hospital after a five-feet-long iron rod went through his chest has survived the accident. Calling it the "rarest of the rare surgeries," doctors of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) saved the life of a young executive, Supratim Dutta, whose chest, lungs, stomach and liver were pierced by an iron bar.

Maine Fisherman Reels In Drowning Man

A man who jumped of a bridge into a frigid Maine river was rescued by a fisherman who hooked his shirt and reeled him in. Bob Greene, 42, told the Portland Press Herald that he was having his morning coffee and reading the paper at 4:30 a. m. Thursday when he heard a noise he thought must've been a bird. About twenty minutes later, he saw what he thought was a log floating down the Kennebec River. Soon, he realized it was actually a man and could barely hear a call of "help. "
