Venezuela President Hugo Chavez and his officials set a world record for making the largest pot of soup on Saturday. Venezuelan Food Minister Rafael Oropeza said they could beat the current Guinness World Records record-holder with their gigantic stainless steel cooking pot, set up outdoors in downtown Caracas. The giant pot contains about 3,960 gallons of "sancocho" stew, while the current Guinness holder prepared 1,413 gallons of spicy soup last July in Durango, Mexico.

A waiter in Fort Lauderdale, FL who ran out of the restaurant to rescue a woman being carjacked was fired when he came back to work on Monday. Juan Canales who many call a hero for his quick thinking is now left stunned by his unemployment status - however employers are coming to his aide with job offers, including his old boss at 84 Thai restaurant. According to police reports 22-year-old Massiel Marquartdt was being attacked by a man wielding a knife outside the 84 Thai Food restaurant in the Southland Shopping Center on Monday.

An 11-year-old Texas boy successfully led police to the arrest of a man suspected of large-scale theft. The little detective, identified only as Simeon, was waiting with younger siblings in the parking lot of a Dollar Tree store in Universal City when the incident tool place. The San Antonio Express-News reported that Simeon spotted a man getting into and out of a pickup, while smashing a window on a Nissan Xterra and stealing items from the car.

Santa Claus has been hailed a hero by local communities in Damascus, Virginia after aiding the police in the arrest of a streaker. Father Christmas assisted the local police in catching a 35-year-old man who was running naked outside a police station on Monday.
