Man Who Tries To Stop Robbery Turns Out To Be A Robber

A man shot in his leg while trying to stop a street robbery on Wednesday turned out to be a robber himself, police said Friday. Police checked the man's record while he was in the hospital and discovered he had a 1996 arrest warrant. He was taken to prison and ordered to serve a 7-year sentence. A police spokeswoman tells Reuters, "What started as an apparent altruistic act had a quite unexpected finish. The waiter, considered until then a hero, turned out to be a convicted runaway. " Police were examining the victim's testimony to see if the man was really protecting her from the attackers or was involved in the robbery. The woman had just left a bank in downtown Rio and was carrying an envelop when she was attacked.

Toymaker Produces Human-Sized Version of Japanese Anime Hero

Indian Villagers Venerate Rocks Following Meteor Shower

According to sources, western Indian villagers have started idolizing rock fragments from a meteor shower. Some villagers imagine that the meteorites are the rocks that Rama, the Ramayana's Hindu epic hero, gathered to make the bridge to rescue his kidnapped wife. The Times of India reported that the villagers of Gujarat state's Kutch region have been searching for rock fragments after a meteor shower made streaks of light over three populated districts late Monday.

Budapest Could Name New Bridge After Chuck Norris

Hollywood action movie hero Chuck Norris is currently leading the race in an online vote to pick a name for a new bridge in the Hungarian city of Budapest. If he wins the vote, the bridge will be named "Chuck Norris Bridge. " On Tuesday morning, the Hollywood actor has already received 8,725 votes. The figures represent 11 percent of the entire votes.
