The next time a major hurricane threatens Florida, those with the money to do so can bypass crowded interstates and escape the looming destruction on a fleet of private jets.

Brian Rems, a Galaxy Aviation executive who was unable to get plane tickets for his family at any price as Hurricane Wilma bore down on the state, has launched a new program called "HelpJet" to ferry up to 1,000 people to locations such as Atlanta, Charlotte and Nashville ahead of future storms.

Rems told local Channel 5 News, "It allows you to get out of town while the going is good."

But joining the program does not come cheap. Customers are required to purchase a $500 HelpJet membership card. Passage out of Florida for members will cost the equivalent of a first-class round trip ticket.

Expecting to attract a high-end clientele, HelpJet is also equipped to act as a travel agent, arranging hotels, vehicles and even golf vacations for the evacuees.
