In the new pilot CBS reality show called "The Singing Office," workplace karaoke stars will have to the chance vie for a cash prize and perform for a national audience. The concept is based on a successful Dutch show. "Singing Office" will drop in unannounced to staffers at two companies and hold impromptu singing auditions.

An anonymous donor felt so sorry for Crusty the alligator that they put up $1,150 to spare his life. After an undercover three-day sting operation earlier this month by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission it was concluded that Crusty had been fed too much fast food, making him a threat to humans.

A surprised Collin Farrell was confronted by a woman who leapt up from the audience while the Irish actor was taping an episode of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on NBC in Los Angeles. Police said neither the actor, nor the woman, were injured in the incident but it caused a commotion and shocked Farrell and the show's crew. Initially, the people behind the show thought the woman was part of a skit.

A woman who placed a 10-cent bet at a Michigan horse track and won $21,584. The bet was made at Sports Creek Raceway in Swartz Creek, about 55 miles northwest of Detroit. The woman placed two 10-cent Superfecta bets on a race being simulcast from the Hollywood Park track in Inglewood, California. The Superfecta requires gamblers to pick the four top-finishing horses in correct order. "One of them won," said Sports Creek general manager Chris Locking, reported The Detroit News. She returned to the track to collect her winnings.
