A woman from Queens, New York is suing a Catholic priest for seducing her saying she suffered stress, anxiety, guilt, fear, humiliation and shame from the affair he justified as "ordained by God."
Judith Rodrigues-Lytwyn, 50, has filed the lawsuit before the Brooklyn state Supreme Court, accusing Reverend Elvis Elano of wooing her and encouraging her to have a sexual relationship with him for several months so she could forget her marital depression.
Lytwyn claimed the priest started making advances on her after confessing to him her divorce from an abusive husband at the Church of Our Lady of the Snows in Queens. She said the priest told her he fell in love with her after the confession.
The sexual encounters happened in Lytwyn's home and a hotel in Montauk. She ended the affair when Elano admitted contracting a sexually transmitted disease from other women.
In a statement by the Diocese of Brooklyn released Thursday, the city's Catholic officials said the priest has been suspended from serving in the city. They also declined to comment on the case and said they did not have contact information on Elano or his lawyer.
