Finger Bitten Off In Healthcare Vigil Altercation
A 65-year-old man's pinky was bitten off by another man during an altercation at vigils of pro- and anti-healthcare reforms in Ventura County, California Wednesday night. Witnesses told police that the two men were from opposing groups of demonstrators. The older man hit the other man, who retaliated by biting off his pinky.
Skydiver Survives 2,000-Feet Drop With Minor Injuries
An experienced skydiver survived with minor injuries a 2,000-feet fall after his parachute failed to open on Friday. Paul Lewis, who the Sunday Times describes as being in his 40s, was filming a woman making her first jump from 10,000 feet. At 3,000 feet, he pulled the cord for his parachute, but it didn't open.
Lightning Hits Woman, 2 Boys At Brampton Centennial Park
Lightning struck the Brampton Centennial Park in Ontario on Wednesday afternoon, hitting a 26-year old woman and two boys aged 5 and 4. The three were hurt badly by the lightning, but are alive and confined in two hospitals. The elder boy, 5-year old Kyus Caines and his playmate, a 4-year old who was not identified, are confined at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. The mother of Kyus, Dulce Caines, is at the Brampton Civic Hospital.
Boston Window Washers Narrowly Escape Death After Dangling From 37th Floor
Two window washers in Boston were saved from falling 37 floors on Wednesday, according to reports. Julio Ortiz and Kyle Redmond were washing windows near the top of a 40-story building along State Street when one end of the platform they were on collapsed. The washers held on to the ropes of the rigging until the Boston Fire Department arrived.
Four-Year-Old OK After Playmate Shot Him With Flare Gun
A 4-year-old boy was hospitalized with burns to his chest after his 5-year-old playmate shot him with a flare gun. The 5-year-old boy shot his pal, wounding him in the arm and chest as the pair played together late Monday afternoon on the front steps of a home. The 4-year-old was taken to St. Luke's Hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
