The Italian mountain climber who has been rescued after an avalanche hit the world's second highest peak Friday is under the care of a rescue team and waiting for a helicopter to take them out of K2. Marco Confortola, 37, was the last rescued among the 22 mountain climbers washed away by the avalanche. Some of the mountaineers fell to their deaths, others froze, while 11 are still missing and presumed dead by now.

An elderly woman and her dog were set ablaze after being doused with gasoline last Friday allegedly by her son. According to reports on Sunday, the 78-year-old woman survived the ordeal but suffered second and third degree burns covering half of her body. She is in critical condition.

A 12-year-old girl who fell 14-stories down a chimney and lived to tell about is in an intensive care unit at a New York hospital. According to reports, Grace Bergere was showing her cousin who was visiting from California the view of the New York City skyline from the rooftop of the building she lives in with her parents Saturday night when she climbed a 25-foot ladder up a chimney and fell into it upon reaching the top.

A study by psychiatrists at the Erlangen University, in collaboration with researchers from the University of North Dakota, linked shopping addiction to an intense craving for attention. One in 10 consumers from wealthy western nations have varying degrees of shopping addiction, according to Martina de Zwaan, head of the Erlangen University's Department of Psychotherapy.

An 11-year-old boy survived after an alligator bit off his left arm while swimming in a pond here Wednesday, but doctors failed to re-attach the severed arm recovered later from the reptile. Devin Funck is in stable condition, Amiee Goforth, spokesman of Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, told Fox News Thursday.
