Charges haven yet to be filed in a June 18 assault case where one man reportedly bit the ear off another during an argument over a dog. Lake County Sheriff's Deputy Tony Aas reports an argument ensued between the two men after a dog started running around the picnic grounds. A 43-year-old man became upset when the dog started swimming and running on the beach.

Jeanette Passalaqua, 32, has filed a suit against Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Southern California Permanente Medical Group Inc. , in San Bernardino County state court. In June 2004, Passalaqua's husband, Steven Passalaqua, was asked by Kaiser staff to hold and steady his wife while an employee inserted an epidural needle into her back, court papers said.

Authorities in Australia say they have arrested a man armed with a knife trying to lob a burning package toward the Prime Minister's Sydney residence. Prime Minister John Howard is on vacation and was not there when the incident took place. Police has refused to call the incident as terror attack.

Doctors are trying to save the life of an 11-month-old baby shot in the head by a bullet that fell from the sky Monday night. Police believe the bullet was fired into the air as part of a July 4th celebration. Baby Alyssa is currently being treated at UNM Hospital in critical condition, where she underwent surgery to help repair the gunshot wound in her head and shoulder. She remains in pediatric intensive care.

A 7-year-old survives after being bitten on the side of his head by a pit bull. Miami police report the boy and a 14-year-old girl went into the back yard of their uncle's home where the dog, who belonged to a friend of the uncle, was being kept.
