A man was arrested after he started shooting at the fire crew who refused to rescue a cat from a tree. Jeffrey Cullen, 58, was filed four felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to Mohave County Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter.

The U. S. Navy will spend $14. 2 million to paint their facilities on Guam. According to a new Pentagon contract, BME and Sons, Inc. will receive $14,211,970 to "perform interior and exterior painting, surface preparation on previously painted and unpainted buildings, application of new paint, taping and spackling work, replacement of caulking and puttying, repair of flashing/sheet-metal, repair of concrete cracks and spalls, cutting/trimming of trees and shrubs (obstructing performance of work), painting of pavement markings, and incidental related work at various military facilities. "

Police in Goettingen, Germany were responding to a complaint about a van in the middle of the road when they found a toddler behind the wheel. The 5-year-old stalled the van several times during morning traffic, and a passer-by called police. A police spokesman tells Reuters, "He was seemingly intent on experiencing the daily traffic chaos and simply jumped behind the wheel of his dad's Mercedes Vito and went off to explore. "

A man in India tries to keep his drunken divorce a secret, but local Islamic clerics find out and force the couple to separate. The clerics in eastern Orissa state ruled the couple can only remarry if the wife takes another husband for one day. The husband, Ershad, had said the word "talaq" or divorce three times earlier this month. When word spread in their village, clerics ordered them to separate.

Hundreds of thousands of devotees flocked to temples in Northern India to see the Hindu deities drinking milk. The drinking god craze comes just two days after thousands of Muslims piled up at a bay in Bombay to drink the sea water that had turned sweet. "It is a miracle," Sudhir Mishra, a priest at a Shiva temple in Lucknow told the AP. He said that at least 10 liters of milk had been offered at his temple on Monday.

Citizens of Barkingside, Essex in England are criticizing a parking officer for issuing a ticket on a car which had been involved in a major car accident. The officer first slapped $190 fine against a Volkswagen Golf car within hours of the accident. However, the car, which stayed at the scene of the incident because it was no longer serviceable, was fined the next day by the same parking warden.

The Associated Press (AP) reports that a woman who has been teaching Sunday School at The First Baptist Church in New York for 54 years was suddenly dismissed from her job on August 9 because of her gender. The teacher, Mary Lambert, received a letter of explanation along with her dismissal from the Reverend Timothy LaBouf as he quoted Biblical scripture in his literal interpretation that woman are not allowed to teach or have authority over men.
